Why is this role really critical to us?
Work with the Regulation Senior Manager to develop regulatory strategies in accordance with the VFTR’s requirements in order to meet the commercial goals, to shape regulatory strategies in favour of VFTR and the industry, to prepare regulatory submissions in accordance with the telecom policies and applicable laws, support team for regulatory compliance and audit processes.
How will you spend your time at Vodafone?
• Designing and executing Vodafone Turkey’s regulatory strategy on a wide range of areas such as authorization, spectrum, investment, tariffs, consumer protection, data protection & privacy, content, IoT, AI and future technologies to minimize the adverse financial and business impacts of regulations and to maximize the business growth opportunities
• Preparing Vodafone Turkey’s positions to sector specific draft regulations with quantitative policy recommendations for them to be finalised in favour of company’s policy objectives
• Mapping out stakeholders and preparing government & NGO engagement plans with a narrative in relevance
• Building credible relations and engaging with government bodies, mainly Telecommunications Authority, Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportation and Digital Transformation Office, to influence decision makers in line with Vodafone Turkey’s regulatory strategies
• Ensuring government requests are held on time with conflict management when required
• Assessing risks and opportunities in existing regulatory framework, developing risk mitigation actions and creating policy recommendations for opportunity areas
• Involving in NGO working groups and industrial collaborations to formulise industry specific policy recommendations and create incremental opportunities in line with anti-trust regulations
• Advising Vodafone Turkey teams to achieve their goals in line with current regulatory framework, contributing business teams’ product design processes in order to create innovative and challenging products without any regulatory risks and in line with Vodafone Turkey’s policy objectives
• Supporting regulatory compliance processes, ensuring regulatory requirements being tracked by relevant teams and managing regulatory investigation processes including defences
• Following new technologies that would affect Vodafone Turkey’s regulatory strategy, preparing international benchmarks and conducting whitepapers to support company’s position
• Working with Vodafone Global External Affairs Teams to form a common position for upcoming regulations in Turkey and to minimise effects of any local regulations to Vodafone Group businesses
You are just the person we’ve been looking for, if you have:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Political Science or Engineering – Master Degree is a plus (MA, MBA)
• 6+ years of professional work experience preferably in regulated industries, regulatory bodies or industry NGOs
• A deep understanding of the telecommunication industry and its drivers, functioning, dynamics and competitive environment
• In depth knowledge of Turkish telecoms, data protection and consumer rights laws and regulations, awareness and interest in EU regulations.
• Strong economic analysis, influential argumentation and project management skills
• Ability to deal with multiple stakeholders to solve complex issues internally and externally
• Enthusiasm in long run policy making processes with a detail and result oriented manner
• Eagerness to be a team player, excellent communications and planning & organization sills
• Passionate about industry and technology
• Excellent written and verbal skills both in Turkish and English – second foreign language is a plus
• Government and NGO engagement experience is a plus
