Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a regional head of pharmaceutical R&D and technical service, Middle East & Africa (m/w/d) to join our Pharmaceutical business at our Istanbul, Turkey, location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D, technical services and formulation function. This position will report to the head of life sciences R&D, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage the pharmaceutical R&D and technical service team in Istanbul and the daily activities of the laboratory. Develop laboratory policies and procedures and issue updates as needed.
- Align the regional technical strategy with global technical/ enterprise strategy,
- Lead, design, and execute research activities, technical presentations, posters, and papers for internal and external customers at customer sites, scientific conferences, and trade shows.
- Visit customers to expand opportunities for the Ashland products, resolve customer technical and scale up issues and provide appropriate technical seminars supporting commercial initiatives. Actively identify new opportunities for technology development and new customer opportunities
- Facilitate technical seminars in-house at customers, as well as open seminars & webinars for multiple customers in the region
- Represent Ashland at external industry events and major technical conferences presenting and promoting research findings.
- Responsible for training and development of regional technical and sales team members on new technologies and products.
- Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing goals and focusing on performance and safety.
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical engineering, chemistry, or similar.
- 5-10 years prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry or similar.
- Fundamental understanding of pharmaceutical product development and Hands-on experience with oral solid dosage forms and polymer technologies.
- Strong written, oral presentation, organizational and problem-solving skills. Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Proven successful experience in leading a small group of direct reports
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel occasionally (about 30%) for customer meetings/project support or conferences/trade shows.

- Demonstrated experience working within multicultural and multifunction environment.
- Demonstrated hand-on expertise in tablet coating.
- Working knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE), Microsoft Office Suite, and statistical
